1. Rajasthan Deactivates 236,000 Suspicious SIMs, 229,000 Phones to Combat Cybercrime
Rajasthan Police blocked 2.36 lakh suspicious SIMs and 2.29 lakh phones in the Mewat region under “Operation Antivirus,” curbing cybercrime. They identified cybercriminals and returned over 5,000 recovered stolen mobiles to owners. The operation involves cooperation with the Department of Telecommunications.
2. Army Doctor Defrauded of Rs 1.2 Crore in Stock Trading Cyber Scam
An Army doctor in Pune lost Rs 1.2 crore in a cyber fraud involving fake stock trading via a fraudulent app. The doctor made 35 transactions but couldn’t withdraw his earnings, leading to the discovery of the scam. An investigation has been launched.

3. Amit Shah to Unveil Four Initiatives for Cybersecurity and Safety
Home Minister Amit Shah will introduce four initiatives, including a Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre (CFMC) and a cyber commandos program. These initiatives aim to strengthen real-time coordination among law enforcement and prevent financial cybercrimes, safeguarding citizens’ money.
4. Noida Residents Lose Rs 1.4 Crore in Stock Investment Cyber Scam
Two residents of Noida lost Rs 1.4 crore in separate cyber fraud cases involving stock market investment schemes. Both were added to WhatsApp groups, convinced to invest, and later denied withdrawals. Police are investigating the incidents.
5. Fake Call Center Busted by Cyber Cell, Four Suspects Arrested
Delhi Police cyber cell dismantled a fake call center and arrested four fraudsters for cheating a businessman out of Rs 11 lakh. Operating under fake companies, they promised to list products on international markets and manipulated the victim into transferring funds under false pretenses.

6. Cyber Attack on Payment Processor Exposes 1.7 Million Credit Card Records
Slim CD suffered a cyber-attack, exposing credit card details of 1.7 million individuals. The breach occurred between August 2023 and June 2024. The company advised affected users to check their credit and monitor for identity theft. No evidence of fraud has been reported yet.
7. Poland Breaks Up Cyber Sabotage Group with Ties to Russia, Belarus
Polish security services dismantled a cyber sabotage group linked to Russia and Belarus. The group, involved in cyber-attacks and blackmail, targeted military and government institutions. Attacks on Poland have doubled, with over 400,000 incidents reported this year.

8. Chinese Hackers Exploit Visual Studio Code in Southeast Asia Cyber Assaults
The China-linked group Mustang Panda exploited Visual Studio Code in espionage targeting Southeast Asian governments. The attack used a reverse shell to execute commands and spread malware. A second cluster of malicious activity, possibly linked, also involved ShadowPad malware.
9. TIDRONE Spy Group Targets Taiwanese Drone Manufacturers in Cyber Offensive
A Chinese-speaking threat actor, TIDRONE, targeted Taiwanese drone manufacturers for espionage in 2024. They used custom malware and leveraged supply chain vulnerabilities. The campaign aimed to steal sensitive military-related information.

Avis Car Rental suffered a breach in August 2024, exposing data of 300,000 customers, including personal and financial details. Avis is offering one year of credit monitoring and has reported the breach to authorities while improving its security.
