A Kerala couple was arrested by the Thoothukudi cyber crime wing for duping an autorickshaw driver of Rs 33.7 lakh after befriending him on Facebook. The victim, who sold his property to help the woman, filed a complaint after being ignored. The couple was arrested from Idukki, Kerala.
2. Hyderabad veterinarian loses Rs 1.7 lakh to cyber fraudsters
A Hyderabad-based veterinarian lost Rs 1.7 lakh to cyber fraudsters posing as Indian Army personnel seeking dog vaccinations. The scammers tricked him into sharing bank details and OTPs under the pretext of confirming payments. A case was registered by Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police, and an investigation is underway.
3. Duo held in Gurugram for supplying SIM cards to cyber criminals
Gurugram Cyber Crime Police arrested two men from Bharatpur for supplying SIM cards used in a Rs 50,000 Instagram fraud. The accused, Shailesh and Manish, sold the SIM for small commissions. Police continue investigations amid rising cybercrime cases, with over 9,600 complaints filed in early 2025 alone.

4. WhatsApp photo scam: Man loses Rs 9 lakh after one click
A Jabalpur man lost over Rs 9 lakh after clicking on a WhatsApp image embedded with malware through steganography. The scam, traced to Jharkhand-based fraudsters, allowed remote access to his phone and bank data. Police urge users to avoid downloading unknown media and disable WhatsApp’s auto-download feature.
5. Two brothers nabbed in Nuh for involvement in cyber fraud
Nuh police arrested two brothers, for running a fake online hotel booking scam. They duped victims, including a Maharashtra man who lost Rs 24,000, using fake SIMs and bank accounts. Five phones and seven SIM cards were seized. Police have begun questioning the duo.

6. Scattered Spider Shifts Tactics: From Rickrolls to Remote Access Trojans (RATs)
Scattered Spider continues its phishing and malware attacks in 2025 despite past arrests. The group has deployed a new Spectre RAT version and phishing kits targeting companies like Nike and T-Mobile. Using steganography, spoofed domains, and dynamic DNS, they steal credentials and data. Rickrolling tactics have reportedly stopped.

7. Vietnamese Man Arrested for $5.2 Million Scam After Returning from Cambodia Cybercrime Hub
