In a major welfare move, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has launched a comprehensive SCBA health insurance scheme for its members. The plan offers cashless treatment and expanded coverage for families of lawyers enrolled with the association.

During a formal event, the SCBA detailed the features of the scheme, highlighting its significance for legal professionals and their dependents.

Key Features of the SCBA Health Plan

The insurance plan provides financial and medical security through a wide range of benefits:

  • Rs 2 lakh coverage for every family enrolled
  • Coverage extended to parents and in-laws
  • Rs 50,000 maternity benefit for both normal and C-section deliveries
  • Cashless treatment available in over 15,000 hospitals across India
  • No waiting period for pre-existing conditions
  • Includes treatment for congenital conditions, Lasik eye surgery, and ambulance charges

No Cost for Members, Corporate-Sponsored Scheme

This health plan is entirely free of cost for SCBA members. It is funded through corporate contributions and managed directly by the association. No individual payment is required to access the benefits.

The initiative is seen as a crucial support mechanism for advocates, ensuring access to quality healthcare without financial burden.

The insurance announcement was made during a special event where the SCBA also released a commemorative volume titled “Pillars of Justice”. The book showcases significant rulings from the Supreme Court and features essays by noted legal minds including Rahul Narayan, Gautam Bhatia, and Tanvi Anand.

Speaking at the launch, senior advocate Kapil Sibal emphasized that the book is designed for young academics to read, analyze, and shape legal perspectives in India.
