A formal investigation has been initiated into Sunrise University, a private institution in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, following serious allegations of distributing fake degrees, academic misconduct, and large-scale irregularities in examination procedures. The development comes after multiple complaints were filed, prompting local law enforcement and regulatory authorities to intervene.

The Rajasthan government and higher education regulators are jointly looking into the matter. Preliminary reports suggest the university may have issued degrees without proper student attendance, examination conduct, or internal assessments, calling into question the authenticity of hundreds of academic certificates.

The inquiry was triggered by public complaints and whistleblower testimonies alleging that the university sold degrees in exchange for cash, without requiring regular classes or proper evaluation. FIRs have reportedly been filed, and state authorities have sealed certain administrative blocks on campus for investigation.

Additionally, officials are examining how such alleged malpractice went unnoticed by accrediting bodies and how a stream of students obtained credentials without meeting necessary academic criteria.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Rajasthan Higher Education Department are closely monitoring the situation. If the allegations are proven, degrees issued during the relevant period could be declared invalid, affecting numerous students across the country and possibly abroad.

Regulatory Scrutiny and Potential Fallout

Sunrise University, established in 2011, is a privately managed institution with multiple undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The current allegations have cast a shadow on the university’s credibility, and questions have been raised about its admission processes, faculty qualifications, and affiliations.

Education experts warn that if the allegations result in formal charges or revocation of the university’s license, the academic futures of many enrolled students could be jeopardized.

Authorities have assured that a fair inquiry will be conducted and that genuine students will be protected from the fallout of institutional negligence.
