SIDDHARTHNAGAR, UTTARPRADESH: A farmer from Uttar Pradesh’s Siddharthnagar district was left stunned when he logged into his savings account and discovered a balance so vast it read like fantasy over ₹10 lakh crore, displayed across 37 digits. The jaw-dropping figure sent shockwaves through his rural community and prompted swift action from the bank, which froze the account and launched an investigation.

Digital Deluge on a Modest Account

The farmer, identified as Vinay Pandey, resides in the village of Tetri Buzurg. Once a Sonipat-based corporate employee, he returned to his roots earlier this year and took up farming full-time. The astronomical credit caught his eye in the mobile banking app, listing an improbable ₹10,01,35,60,00,00,00,00,00,01,00,23,56,00,00,09,82,024 as his balance, far beyond any conceivable personal or national wealth.

Community Reacts, Bank Freezes Funds

News of the “billionaire farmer” spread quickly, drawing neighbors and villagers in disbelief.  Still, despite the surreal display,  He reacted responsibly, alerting the bank to the error. Bank officials immediately froze the account amid growing concern over potential cybersecurity threats or system faults. According to him, He was not even able to count such a huge amount in 37 digits that was in his account. He has requested the bank and the Government of India to invest the money in public welfare schemes and says that he will be satisfied if he is given some amount as a reward.

 Triggering In-Depth Investigation

Authorities have commenced a full-scale probe into the anomaly. Early signs suggest a technical malfunction, but officials are treating it with due seriousness. They have frozen the account and are examining transaction logs and system logs to uncover how a savings account was credited with such an amount. Throughout this episode, a stark reminder emerges: even a routine login can reveal unsettling truths in a digital banking era, and the boundary between harmless errors and potential cyber threats remains razor-thin.
