A man in Shikohabad was allegedly defrauded of more than ₹1.11 crore after being lured into investing through an online trading platform with promises of substantial profits. Police registered a case on February 14, 2026, naming a woman identified as Aarushi Trivedi and her purported uncle as the primary accused. The complainant, Amit Kumar, reported that he transferred the funds across multiple installments before realizing he had been deceived when demands for additional payments blocked his withdrawal requests.
Lured by Assurances of Safe Profits
According to the police complaint, Aarushi Trivedi initially established contact with Kumar and encouraged him to take up online trading. She persuaded him to register an account on an online platform named CPT Market. Subsequently, an individual introduced as her uncle stepped into the communication, assuring Kumar that deposits placed on the portal were entirely safe and guaranteed to yield lucrative returns. Convinced by these assurances, the complainant began routing money into accounts purportedly linked to the trading operation.
Initial Payout Followed by Fresh Payment Demands
Over several transactions, Kumar deposited a total of ₹1,11,87,401. To gain his trust, the accused initially permitted him to withdraw ₹1,01,000 from the platform. The successful transfer strengthened the complainant’s belief in the legitimacy of the venture, prompting him to keep his funds on the platform. The scheme unraveled when Kumar later submitted a request to withdraw the full balance displayed on his dashboard. Instead of releasing the funds, the accused instructed him to deposit more money under the pretext of various charges and processing requirements.
Phone Lines Disconnected as Police Probe Financial Trail
Suspicious of the persistent demands for fresh deposits, Kumar tried reaching the two individuals directly, only to find that both of their mobile numbers had been switched off. Realizing he had been trapped, he approached the authorities. The Shikohabad police lodged a formal First Information Report under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita alongside Section 66D of the Information Technology Act. Investigators are now tracking the money trail across multiple bank accounts, examining digital transactions and chat logs, and verifying the technical footprint of the CPT Market platform to determine whether the accused targeted other individuals in the same manner.
