AGRA: In a case of revenge porn a man using a virtual number create a fake Instagram ID of a girl and circulated her morphed objectionable pictures on various platforms. The man who is now caught by Agra’s Cyber Cell was doing this as the girl refused to be friends with him.

According to the police, the man ensured that the girl doesn’t marry anyone and by circulating her pictures he got her two marriage proposals cancelled. Distressed with regular harassment, the victim’s father approached the police and registered a case against an unknown person at Shamsabad police station.

This is almost a blind case for the police. Using digital tools cops got hold of fake Instagram ID and the number used to create and circulate morphed images. He also threatened the girl with acid attack. Police said the accused made sure that she doesn’t get married. He used to send morphed pictures to those who visited her with marriage proposals.

Police found out that they started with +1 Country code. They soon found out that it was generated through a virtual number application. After deep analysis, they zeroed upon Amit Kumar who had approached the victim to become friends.

During the questioning, Amit Kumar said he was angry as she had refused her friendship and wanted revenge. He created a fake ID on Instagram in June and using editing software he morphed her image and started sharing on different platforms.

Kumar also told that he had used a foreign mobile number providing app to avoid the police. He was using WhatsApp through the number and made it extremely tough for the cops to track him. Kumar also used a The accused had used a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to evade the police. Due to this, his location changed every few minutes. This made it difficult for the police to track him. He intentionally chose the location of countries which has no treaty with India and data cannot be shared.

Finally, after a detailed investigation cops found out that the accused was not abroad but was staying very close to the victim’s house and keeping an eye on her every movement.
