NOIDA-  In order to secure the future operations of the Noida International Airport, local authorities have put a stop to all new construction within a 10-kilometer zone around the ambitious aviation hub. This decisive action comes as officials work to prevent uncontrolled building from creating dangers for airplanes and airport activities.

Protecting the Airspace: Why the Ban?

The primary reason behind this wide-ranging construction ban is the growing concern over unapproved and rapid building near the airport site. Officials from Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) and the Gautam Buddha Nagar district administration fear that if left unchecked, these constructions could seriously interfere with airport operations. The goal is to ensure that the skies around the airport remain clear and safe for all flights, both arriving and departing.

Hidden Dangers: Threats to Flight Safety

A recent meeting of the Airport Environment Management Committee (AEMC) brought to light several potential risks that uncontrolled development could pose. These include the presence of birds and stray animals, which can be extremely dangerous if they get too close to aircraft. Additionally, unauthorized buildings themselves can become obstacles. The committee also pointed out the dangers of laser pointers and drones, which, if used improperly near the airport, could blind pilots or cause collisions.

Taking Action: New Rules and Committees

To tackle these issues head-on, authorities are rolling out a series of strict measures. They plan to identify and take action against any buildings that have been constructed without the necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs) – special permissions required for construction in sensitive areas. New construction will also face much tighter rules. Joint surveys will be carried out to map the area, and a special “obstacle control committee” will be set up to manage and remove any potential hazards.

Ensuring Compliance: Regular Checks Ahead

The efforts won’t stop with just the ban. Officials have been instructed to keep a tight rein on activities like the use of laser emitters and drones near the airport. Regular inspections will be a key part of the strategy to ensure that the new rules are being followed. Furthermore, progress reports will be submitted regularly, ensuring that safety and environmental standards are continuously met as the Noida International Airport prepares for its grand opening. This comprehensive approach aims to make the airport not just a gateway for travel, but also a model of safety and responsible development.
