Nationwide Raids Lead to Arrest of 199 Criminal Suspects in Nigeria

Nigeria’s internal security forces, led by the military and supported by local units and federal agencies, have disrupted multiple criminal operations, detaining 199 suspects and targeting insurgents across various states.

In Borno State, troops from the 202 Battalion, alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), ambushed and killed a suspected ISWAP/JAS logistics courier in the Bama axis. Recovered items included a bicycle and mechanical parts believed to be used for enemy resupply missions.

In Sokoto, four suspects were apprehended near Giginya Cantonment in connection with a drug trafficking network. Soldiers of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Team recovered narcotics, multiple vehicles, mobile phones, ATM cards, and ₹11,200 (₦185,000) in cash.

Cybercrime Hub Dismantled in Delta State

In one of the largest cybercrime crackdowns, the 3 Battalion raided a cybercrime training facility in Warri, Delta State. The operation led to the arrest of 183 individuals suspected of internet fraud. Troops confiscated 274 laptops, 87 smartphones, and numerous digital tools linked to online scams.

In Katsina State, troops of the 17 Brigade thwarted an ambush targeting a police convoy in Malumfashi. Security forces recovered a police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and detained Muhammadu Hamisu, alias “Mamiyo,” a known terrorist leader.

Elsewhere, coordinated arrests were made in Kogi, Edo, and Abuja. In Kogi, a suspected kidnapper linked to a major terror syndicate was apprehended. In Edo’s EMU Forest, the 322 Artillery Regiment seized firearms, motorcycles, and cash. Meanwhile, in Abuja, extremist informants were arrested along the Lokoja-Abaji road.

Plateau State’s Operation Safe Haven also recorded success, detaining a cattle rustler and a murder suspect in Mangu Local Government Area.

“These operations demonstrate our unrelenting resolve to safeguard lives and restore security nationwide,” a senior military official said.
