New Mobile App To Help Kerala Fight Against Cyber Crime With Children
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the state government is taking various steps, such as developing a mobile app, to prevent cybercrime against children in the state.
Vijayan was responding to questions in the legislative assembly about the rise in cybercrime against children and the steps his government and its agencies are taking to combat the problem.
According to the CM, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent closure of educational institutions, online classes were held using digital equipment and the internet.
He noted that extensive use of digital equipment, such as mobile phones and the internet, led some children to fall into cyber traps.
Kerala Police has devised a number of projects and schemes to combat this.
Aside from that, he said, the state Women and Child Development Department was developing a mobile app to prevent cyber attacks or crimes against children.
Vijayan stated that the state police’s cyberdome division was taking vigilant measures in response to the upload and download of illicit photographs of children by certain individuals.

He advised parents to be cautious when using mobile phones in the presence of their children at home, as they would mimic them.
Vijayan emphasised the importance of raising awareness among parents and teachers about how to handle such situations.
Concerned about the rising number of child pregnancies, the Kerala High Court stated last month that the easy availability of online porn can give young people incorrect ideas and that there was a need to educate children about internet safety.
