Job Scammers Busted: 8 Member of ‘Hello Gang’ Arrested From Agra
Agra: Launching a crackdown against scam callers from Agra and Mathura region, cybercrime unit of Agra Police arrested eight scam callers who duped gullible job seekers from different states.
According to the police, ‘Hello Gang’ used to run paid advertisements on social media websites and newspapers advertising about jobs of managers, supervisors at massage parlours, SPA, health centre, friendship club etc.
Posing as job consultants, the gang used to charge the job seekers processing fee and other charges. On the pretext of these fees and charges, they use to siphon huge money from their account. Thousands of people have been cheated by the gang.
After receiving multiple complaints, police started electronic surveillance and traced the gang in remote areas of Agra.
Due to the pandemic many people have lost their jobs. Now as the market is opening up there are many looking for the new opportunity. Cashing on increase in job search cyber criminals are posting jake job offers.
“Gangs operating from Agra-Mathura region are involved in many calling scams. After receiving many complaints we tracked the calls and money trails. Phone were taken on fake SIMs and account in which money was transferred was taken on rent. After extensive electronic surveillance and solid ground-work the gang was busted,” said Triveni Singh, Superintendnet of Police, Cyber Crime said.
The team involved in crackdown includes Sultan Singh, Cyber Cell head (Agra), Amit Kumat, prem Singh, Arun Bhati, Vijay Tomar, Bablu Kumar, Jitendra Kumar, Intezar and others.
