The Indian Army’s 4 Rashtriya Rifles (4RR) have built a cutting-edge computer lab for the students of Little Angel School, Bhaderwah University Campus, marking a major stride in closing the digital divide in rural Jammu and Kashmir. Following the success of Operation Sindoor, which brought peace and stability back to the area, the program is a component of Operation Sadbhavna.

The facility was inaugurated by Colonel Yogesh Chouhan, Commanding Officer of the 4RR, in the presence of school staff, faculty members, and Aarif Haleem Khateeb, External Relationship Officer, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu. Equipped with high-speed computers and modern educational software, the lab is designed to enhance digital literacy among local students and support the objectives of the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan (PMGDISHA).

Bridging the Digital Divide

Speaking at the inauguration, Col Chouhan emphasized the importance of early access to computer education, especially in the context of rapid technological advancements and the rise of Artificial Intelligence. He stated that access to computers is no longer a privilege but a necessity, highlighting the lab’s role in giving Bhaderwah’s youth equal opportunities to compete at national and global levels.

He further stressed that education is a powerful tool against ignorance, unemployment, and extremism, and equipping students with the right skills today will prepare them to be “torchbearers of peace, progress, and prosperity” in the future. Students expressed enthusiasm for the new learning environment.

Community Impact and Future Prospects

School principal and teachers expressed deep appreciation for the Army’s initiative, noting its potential to transform educational outcomes in the region. Teachers praised the effort as a turning point for local students, stating that “all technology begins with computers” and that the lab marks a major step toward empowering young minds in the era of AI.

Following the inauguration, students presented a cultural program at the Lal-Ded Auditorium, reflecting the school’s vibrant role in the community. Nestled in the scenic valley of Bhaderwah, Little Angel School has long been a centre of learning, and this collaboration with the Indian Army reaffirms a broader commitment to nurturing talent and enriching civilian life beyond the military’s traditional role of border protection.
