NOIDA: A former accountant of a bag and cushion manufacturing unit has been accused of fraudulently creating fake GST bills worth ₹10 crore using stolen login credentials. The case came to light after the company’s owner initiated an audit, which revealed a GST liability of ₹1.80 crore, an amount the business owner claims was entirely unexpected.
The complaint was filed at the cybercrime police station by Megha Varshney, owner of Basics Design, located in the Kasna industrial area. According to the police, the accused, Abhinav Tyagi, had worked at the firm for five years before resigning recently. During his tenure, he had access to the company’s GST portal credentials, which he allegedly used post-employment to commit fraud.

Audit Reveals Fake Firms and Transactions
The discrepancy surfaced during an internal audit on July 15, after which the business owner, with the help of a chartered accountant, examined GST records. It was found that from December 2024 to March 2025, fraudulent transactions amounting to ₹10 crore were made using the company’s GST account.
Entities such as United Security Services, IA Engineering, Ujjwal Handicrafts, BAU Project, RS Fabrication Work, Z Concept, and Yash Please India Private Limited were named in these transactions. Upon verification, it was discovered that one of the fake entities, Ujjwal Handicrafts, was linked to Abhinav Tyagi.
Threat Allegations and Ongoing Investigation
When confronted by Varshney, the accused allegedly responded with threats and warned her against reporting the matter to authorities. She later approached the cybercrime unit, and an FIR has been registered. Investigators are now verifying whether the input tax credit was availed of using the forged bills. If not, officials stated, efforts would be made to invalidate the fake invoices.
Cyber police officials confirmed that the complaint is under investigation, and further legal action will depend on the findings. Authorities are also probing whether the accused collaborated with others or if similar tactics were used in other cases.
