DEHRADUN: A matrimonial website has accused its former employee of illegally retaining control over its server and sensitive database by refusing to return the master login credentials even after leaving the organisation. Acting on a complaint filed by the company management, Nehru Colony police registered a criminal case against the woman on Saturday and initiated an investigation into the matter.
According to Inspector Devendra Chauhan, Vijay Bhatt, representing Mangal Infotech situated in Ajabpur Kalan, lodged the formal complaint. The firm operates a matrimonial platform under the domain Mangal.com. As per the complaint, Preeti Tiwari, a resident of Chanakyapuri in Bengali Kothi, had worked with the company for approximately two and a half years. During her tenure, she was entrusted with the administrative responsibility and master login credentials to manage the software systems of the company on the Apple platform.
Master Login Linked to Personal Apple ID
The matter came to light after the employee parted ways with the firm and company officials attempted to access the database to execute software updates. During this process, technical administrators discovered that the master login remained tied to Tiwari’s personal Apple ID.
The company alleged that despite persistent attempts to contact her and numerous formal communications sent via email, Tiwari refused to restore administrative access or return the login credentials to the management. Consequently, the firm found itself locked out of its own software controls, leaving the critical backend systems in the hands of an individual no longer associated with the business.
VIP Profiles and Sensitive Records at Risk
The firm highlighted that the website caters to a large and distinguished user base, which includes judicial officers, senior police officials, and prominent members of civil society. All these registered individuals have submitted detailed biodata, private personal contact details, family backgrounds, and photographs to the database.
Because the former staff member continues to retain administrative control through her linked personal credentials, she retains unauthorised access to this extensive repository of confidential information. The firm expressed grave concern over the vulnerability of this sensitive material, warning that the user data could potentially be compromised.
Company Fears Data Leak and Unauthorised Sale
Management has formally voiced apprehensions that the confidential database might be leaked into the public domain or sold to third parties. Such an exposure, the company noted, poses a direct threat to the privacy and security of its high profile clientele.
Following the submission of the complaint, the police booked the accused under appropriate sections of the law. Investigators have begun examining the digital trail, including the administrative permissions issued during her tenure and the subsequent communications demanding the return of system access. Further legal proceedings and technical assessments remain underway.
