3. CBI arrests four in Rs 7.7 crore cyber fraud involving BITS Pilani professor

CBI arrested four key operatives from Mumbai and Moradabad in a Rs 7.7 crore cyber fraud targeting BITS Pilani professor. The victim was digitally detained for over three months by scammers posing as officials. Searches across four states yielded crucial digital evidence. More arrests are expected.

4. Mumbai Police crack down on Assam cyber scam hub in overnight raid, 5 held

Mumbai Cyber Police, in collaboration with Morigaon district police, conducted an overnight raid on April 16 in Assam’s Lahorighat, targeting a cybercrime ring. Five suspects were arrested, including one hiding in a ceiling. The joint operation highlights strong inter-state efforts to combat escalating cybercrime threats across India.

5. Man nabbed in Rs 50 lakh online scam linked to elderly couple’s suicide in Karnataka

Belagavi Cyber Police arrested one from Surat for his role in a Rs 50 lakh cyber fraud that led to the suicide of an elderly couple in Beedi village. He received Rs 6 lakh linked to the scam. Police recovered phones and suspect a wider fraud network.
