LUCKNOW: In a major crackdown on counterfeit medical credentials, the Uttar Pradesh Ayurvedic, Unani and Tibbi Medical Systems Board has cancelled the registrations of 19 more Ayurvedic practitioners after their degrees were proven forged during physical verification. The board has barred all 19 practitioners from offering medical treatment with immediate effect and lodged a formal complaint at the Hussainganj police station. According to investigators, the accused had obtained board affiliations using forged educational certificates allegedly issued by institutions across Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Haryana. While several of them had set up independent private clinics and nursing homes, others were actively employed in reputed healthcare establishments across the state.

Verification Exposes Forged Credentials Across Four States

The disqualifications follow an extensive scrutiny drive ordered by the medical board, targeting practitioners registered after 2015. Routine cross-checks with the respective universities and colleges confirmed that the educational records submitted by these practitioners were entirely fraudulent. The inquiry established that 14 of the practitioners secured their registrations during the 2021-22 period, whereas five practitioners obtained approval in 2024. The board has served formal notices to each of the 19 practitioners, requiring them to explain their submissions while initiating penal procedures.

Widespread Scrutiny Widens Ongoing Criminal Probe

The latest discovery follows a major enforcement drive in August, when the board detected forged degrees among 41 Ayurvedic doctors and revoked their professional credentials. The fresh complaint has been forwarded to Hussainganj police to expand the existing criminal investigation. Hussainganj Station House Officer Shivmangal Singh confirmed that the newly received complaint will be merged with the initial FIR registered against the previous 41 suspects. Law enforcement teams are currently compiling documentary proof from the institutions concerned to pursue strict legal action against all identified suspects.

Registration Revoked Across Multiple Districts

The Ayurvedic Directorate has prohibited the accused practitioners from examining patients or administering care. Those facing disqualification include Dr. Shashibhushan Yadav from Jahangirganj in Ambedkar Nagar, Dr. Ankit Srivastava from Guma Fatima Jot in Balrampur, Dr. Ashok Kumar from Bighapur in Unnao, Dr. Parvez Alam from Prem Nagar in Kanpur, Dr. Virendra Kumar from Gaura Badshahpur in Jaunpur, Dr. Ramapati from Mungra Badshahpur in Jaunpur, and Dr. Arvind from Kabiruddinpur in Jaunpur. Additional practitioners named in the order are Dr. Jitendra Chakrawal from Shivdaspur in Varanasi, Dr. Dimple from Balaji Complex in Meerut, Dr. Nishant Bhardwaj from Mawana in Meerut, Dr. Ashutosh Mandal from Gharbara in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Dr. Vinod Kumar Yadav from Baijupatti in Kushinagar, and Dr. Bijendra Verma from Naurangabad in Etawah. The board also revoked the permits of Dr. Yunus from Masjid Gali Tanda in Bulandshahr, Dr. Wasim from Nau Kuwa Road Gherbukhari in Shamli, Dr. Rehan Ahmed from Shahjamal Kol in Aligarh, Dr. Shailendra Kumar from Naya Ganla in Mathura, Dr. Kamal Upadhyay from Sadabad in Hathras, and Dr. Bharat Saxena from Mailganj in Lakhimpur Kheri. Concurrently, the Directorate of Ayurveda has instructed regional Ayurvedic and Unani officers to revoke the operating licences of private hospitals run by these individuals and shut down their clinics permanently.
