Google Cloud brought together more than 600 founders, promoters, managing directors and technology executives at Cloud Day India 2026, showcasing production-ready artificial intelligence tools aimed at helping India’s small and medium-sized businesses and mid-market enterprises move beyond experimentation and adopt AI at scale.

The event drew decision-makers from sectors including manufacturing, retail, logistics, media and financial services. Google Cloud positioned AI as a practical business tool for improving productivity, reducing operational friction and supporting growth across companies that may not have large in-house technology teams.

AI Push Tied to India’s Growth Ambitions

Preeti Lobana, Vice President and Country Manager at Google India, said small and medium-sized businesses are an important part of India’s “Viksit Bharat” economic ambitions.

She cited examples including ONDC and Siyaram’s, saying AI is increasingly being used by businesses to support scale and improve competitiveness.

The event also highlighted the broader economic impact expected from artificial intelligence. Citing World Economic Forum data, the report said AI is projected to add $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030.

Around 52 per cent of organisations globally have already deployed active AI agents in production environments, using them to improve productivity and scale operations. However, businesses continue to face barriers such as fragmented data, legacy systems and unclear returns on investment, which can prevent AI projects from moving beyond pilot stages.

Google Cloud Showcases Unified AI Stack

Google Cloud used the event to demonstrate how its AI ecosystem, combining Gemini models, Google Workspace, data analytics and secure infrastructure, can be used by Indian SMBs in practical business settings.

Taru Dahiya, Managing Director, SMB, Google Cloud Asia Pacific, said businesses gaining ground across the region are not necessarily those with the largest technology budgets, but those using AI as a continuing driver of growth.

She said companies can use AI to reduce operational inefficiencies and reinvest the resulting capacity in future innovation. Google Cloud presented its integrated stack as a way for businesses to access AI capabilities across research, models, productivity software and infrastructure through a common platform.

The company also highlighted examples of adoption among Indian businesses. Tinna Rubber & Infrastructure Ltd, which recycles nearly 100,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyre rubber and steel annually, moved from legacy email systems to Google Workspace with support from Infiflex Technologies.

Siyaram’s is using Google Cloud AI tools to improve operational efficiency and decision-making. The company is also using Nano Banana Pro for marketing creatives and Omni for short-form video production, according to Google Cloud.

Agentic AI Targets Frontline Business Tasks

Google Cloud said its unified approach is designed to reduce the need for smaller businesses to combine multiple separate technology vendors.

Gemini in Google Workspace and Gemini Enterprise can be used to draft proposals, summarise customer conversations and create no-code agents across Indian languages without requiring technical training.

Google Cloud also highlighted agentic workflows for more complex business functions. These include AI-powered defect inspection on factory production lines and Gemini agents capable of reconciling e-way bills with vendor invoices.

The company said its cloud regions in Mumbai and Delhi NCR, together with built-in threat protection, provide businesses with enterprise-grade security infrastructure. It also said customer data is not used to train foundation models.

Recognising that many growing companies do not maintain dedicated AI teams, Google Cloud said it works with certified Indian partners that provide pre-built tools, training and managed services. These offerings include systems for connecting business data from platforms such as Tally and SAP with BigQuery.

The Cloud Day India 2026 event reflected Google Cloud’s effort to position production-ready AI as a practical tool for smaller and mid-sized businesses seeking to improve operations without building large internal AI teams.
