2. ‘Samanvaya’ Portal Launched by MHA for Data Sharing on Cybercriminal Activity Among Police Forces

A Bengaluru man lost Rs 59 lakh to cybercriminals after being duped by a fake video call courtroom setup. The criminals posed as government officials and coerced the victim into transferring funds under false accusations of money laundering.

A Prayagraj-based advocate lost Rs 1 lakh after cybercriminals threatened her with digital arrest and tricked her into sending money under the guise of a fake investigation into illegal activities, including money laundering and human trafficking.

6. ‘Ghost’ Cybercrime Network Taken Down, Multiple Arrests in Australia and Ireland
Europol took down Ghost, an encrypted app exclusively used by criminals. It offered anonymity and self-destruct features for communication. Several thousand users worldwide used it for illegal activities like drug trafficking and money laundering. Fifty-one people have been arrested, mostly in Australia.
