1. Hyderabad Woman Among Six Arrested in Bengaluru Cyber Fraud Case

The South East Division Cyber Crime police arrested six people, including a 23-year-old woman, for duping a private firm’s accountant of Rs 56 lakh. The fraud occurred on December 6, and the suspects were apprehended on Monday. The police are investigating further to recover the stolen amount and identify accomplices.

2. Mumbai Police Recover Rs 4.65 Crore from Rs 7.5 Crore Cyber Fraud Loss

A Mumbai-based private company owner lost Rs 7.5 crore in a SIM swap cyber fraud. Acting swiftly, cyber police froze Rs 4.65 crore within four hours. Fraudsters used the victim’s phone number to access OTPs and transfer funds. The remaining amount was withdrawn before authorities could intervene. Investigation is ongoing.

3. UP Man Arrested in Connection with Cybercrime

A 25-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh, was arrested for creating a fake email impersonating a transport agent to defraud Rs 20 lakh from a chemical plant in Tamil Nadu. Acting on a complaint via the cybercrime portal, a special team tracked and arrested him and an accomplice.

4. Kerala Man Held in Mangaluru for Rs 1.71 Crore Cyber Fraud

A 22-year-old Kerala man, was arrested for his role in a Rs 1.71 crore cyber fraud. Using a Canara Bank account opened in the complainant’s name, fraudsters carried out multiple transactions. Police traced his involvement and arrested him in Kozhikode, with investigations ongoing to find other suspects.

5. Ludhiana Textile Unit Owner Duped of Rs 86 Lakh in Cyber Scam

A Ludhiana textile firm lost Rs 86 lakh after a cyber fraudster impersonated its director, on WhatsApp. The fraudster, using Jain’s photo as a profile picture, tricked the accountant into transferring the money. Police have filed an FIR and are tracing the bank account used in the scam.

6. Postman Workspaces Expose 30,000 API Keys and Sensitive Tokens

CloudSEK’s TRIAD team discovered over 30,000 Postman Workspaces leaking sensitive API data, including keys and tokens, exposing organizations to severe risks. Affected platforms include GitHub, Slack, and Salesforce. CloudSEK urged security measures like token rotation and secrets management. Postman introduced secret-protection policies to mitigate further exposures and protect users.

7. UN General Assembly Approves Historic Cybercrime Convention

The UN General Assembly adopted a landmark convention against cybercrime to strengthen international cooperation and provide technical assistance, especially to developing nations. Negotiated over five years, the treaty addresses crimes like online scams and money laundering. It opens for signature in 2025, requiring 40 ratifications to take effect.
