1. Cybercrime Ring Busted in Gurugram: Rs 74 Crore Duped Nationwide
Gurugram police arrested eight cybercriminals for defrauding 7,719 victims of Rs 74.2 crore nationwide over 6-8 months. Assisted by I4C, the investigation revealed 292 FIRs, including 24 in Haryana. 4. Marriage Scam: Cyber Fraudster Nabbed in Bhopal
Bhopal Cybercrime Branch uncovered a matrimonial fraud involving six fake websites and call centres in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. The scam duped 500 victims, including one who lost Rs 1.5 lakh. Manager was arrested, revealing operations in Aligarh, Banaras, and Bilaspur. Police froze accounts and seized evidence, including phones and SIMs.
5. Mumbai Man Loses Rs 12.81 Crore in Digital Arrest Scam, Case Filed
A 56-year-old Chembur resident lost Rs 12.81 crore in a month-long cyber scam. Fraudsters, posing as police, claimed he was under ‘digital arrest’ for alleged crimes, coercing him to transfer funds to resolve the issue. Mumbai Cyber Police registered an FIR, identifying suspects and freezing accounts linked to the scam.
