Know how a mobile recharge helped in cracking blind murder case

Azamgarh: A blind murder case of a truck driver and robbery of good from his truck had kept cops clueless for the last three months. But, a mobile recharge not only helped Azamgarh police in identifying the criminals but busting a module of highway robbers.

Azamgarh’s superintendent of police Triveni Singh explained on October 21, 2019 an unidentified body was found near Magai River which falls under Narheta police station. After a detailed investigation deceased was identified as Karamjeet, a truck driver. He was carrying iron rods in his truck but it was missing. It was suspected that robbers had killed him and robbed his trucks and goods.

“There was absolutely no clue about his killing. His helper was also missing and there was nowhere about him as well. During the investigation, a mobile number was found, which was used to call the deceased’s family. We tried digging more details about the number when we found the phone was recently bought and recharged from a nearby shop,” Triveni Singh said.

While analysing phone number details cops reached a dead-end as SIM was issued on fake documents and the number was not used for making any other calls. Cops then found that the SIM was recharged once from the suspected shop.

The police team when questioned the mobile shop owner, he spilled the beans and helped in identifying all the accused who bought the SIM and got it recharged from his shop. Based on his information seven people were arrested who confessed to killing Karamjeet. The gang was involved in other robberies. They use to rob truck loaded with goods and then dispose off the vehicle by dismantling its parts.
