The caller posing as a customer care executive offered his help. He instructed Srivastava to download a remote access app ‘Quick Support’.
As soon as the app was downloaded the cyber criminal got access to his phone. The scammer immediately withdrew Rs 1.08 lakh from his account.
After Srivastava received a message from his bank informing him about the transactions, he realized that he has been duped.
He dialled the number of scammers several times but they had switched off their phone.
Later, Srivastava filed a complaint with the police which is now being investigated by Cyber Cell.
