Call 1930 To Report Cyber Crime, Noida Police Issues Advisory To Prevent Cyber Fraud
NOIDA: The Noida police’s Cyber unit has released an advisory for the prevention of cyber crimes in order to raise awareness and protect people from online scams.
People should not give out personal information such as bank account numbers or CVV numbers to strangers over the phone or over text messages, according to the police.
This month, the police claim to have restored Rs 1.50 lakh in cash stolen by cybercriminals in many cases of online financial fraud. People should also avoid installing programmes from dubious sources since cybercriminals could hack into their phones.

When should you scan a QR code?
People need to realise that scanning a QR code is done when sending money and not while receiving money, according to a senior officer.
“In many situations, culprits utilise bank accounts or credit/debit card details for online buying on e-commerce websites,” he continued, “and if we receive complaints in a timely manner, we can speak with these e-commerce companies and put the transactions and deliveries on hold.”
When cyber criminals use bank accounts or credit/debit card information to transfer money into their own accounts, authorities contact the banks and attempt to freeze the suspect’s accounts, he said. According to Singh, the funds are cleared and then refunded to the victim through the legal system.

According to media reports, another case of cyber fraud was brought to light on Wednesday when a resident of Sector 76 filed a police complaint alleging that she had lost Rs 90,000 in a cyber crime. Bhavna Sharma, the victim, told the police that she had advertised her refrigerator for sale for Rs 15,000 on an online platform.
According to the victim, she received a call from an unknown number stating that he wanted to purchase the refrigerator.
