CM Yogi Cracks Down on Police and Magistracy Corruption: Targets Bribe Collection by Private Individuals
The Uttar Pradesh government has banned private employees from working in government offices, a move aimed at curbing corruption. This follows the Ballia border corruption scam, where private individuals were arrested for accepting bribes on behalf of officials.
Lucknow: In a significant move aimed at curbing corruption and enhancing the integrity of government operations, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued a directive prohibiting private employees from working in various government offices, including revenue departments, police stations, and district administrative offices. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office emphasized that any private employee found working in these government settings would face severe punitive action.
The directive mandates that revenue-related matters be reviewed daily at the district level. Additionally, complaints received at police stations are to be addressed regularly by senior officials to ensure transparency and accountability.
This move comes on the heels of several corruption scandals in the state. Notably, the recent Ballia border corruption scam highlighted the involvement of private individuals acting on behalf of government officials to collect bribes. The crackdown led to the arrest of multiple private individuals who were caught accepting bribes to facilitate various illegal activities.
The state government is determined to eliminate the practice of hiring private employees for tasks that should be handled by official government personnel. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance governance and public trust by reducing opportunities for corrupt practices within the administration.
