This Email Claiming Termination Request Processed From Govt Email Id Is Fake: Warns Government

NEW DELHI: Cybercriminals are creating phishing emails pretending it be to coming from the government to steal their password.
The government’s Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) has issued an advisory warning people to stay alert from such suspicious email. “Do not open any suspicious mail having subject – Termination Request Processed,” read the advisory.

It also said the cybercriminals have created a look-a-like of government websites to appear authentic. “This email has a link to a phishing page resembling original NIC/GOV mail login page hosted at URL www.icckolkata.com/email-gov-in to compromise username and password of recipients.”
Usually, through such a phishing website cybercriminals try to steal the login credential of a government officer or user and further misuse it for illegal purposes.
The advisory said that this phishing mail was sent to many government officials.
ISEA has advised that if any suspicious email may kindly be forwarded to email pratirodhak@gov.in for analysis.
