Indian Army Conducts First-Ever Hackathon At Military College of Telecommunication Engineering

NEW DELHI: A first-of-its-kind Hackathon was held at the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Mhow, under the overall guidance of the Shimla-based Army Training Command to promote proficiency and expertise in the use of emerging technologies and to showcase the technological side of the Indian Army (ARTRAC).

Over 15000 people attended the “Sainya Ranakshetram” event, which was held in partnership with the Rashtriya Raksha University from October 1 to December 31, 2021.

The competition was held digitally over the Internet and included a variety of challenges involving Secure Coding, Software Defined Radio exploitation, and Cyber Offensive skills.

Participants competed in cyber space against simulated dangers, which was one of the event’s highlights. Participants were also treated to a number of training sessions and expert speakers during the event. The event drew participants from all around the country, with a strong showing from rural and distant locations.

During an online ceremony on Thursday, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General MM Naravane congratulated the Hackathon victors. While noting that cyber threats from a variety of actors are one of the most pressing concerns facing the country today, the COAS stated that the Indian Army is aware of the threat and has taken several initiatives to strengthen its cyber capabilities.

He praised the organisers’ and participants’ efforts, praising their energy, zeal, and enthusiasm for each activity during the Hackathon. He also wished them well in their future endeavours, saying that this initial initiative would develop and change over time to inspire young brains to be innovative and creative.
