Hackers Post Nudes During Kolkata School Webinar, Hunt To Catch Cyber Offenders On
KOLKATA: A police complaint has been filed by Shri Shikshayatan School in Kolkata’s central district, stating that one of their webinars, which was attended by children and teachers from numerous schools, was hacked and unidentified attendees shared obscene images on the online platform.
The webinar, which was hosted by the Calcutta Business School, a division of the Shri Shikshayatan Foundation, drew roughly 180 people. Following the incident, Shakespeare Sarani police station received the complaint.
“A webinar hosted by the Calcutta Business School on November 27 was allegedly hacked. While the conference was in progress, the hackers put offensive images and discussions on the online meeting forum. A thorough investigation has begun,” a south division officer said.

Sri Shikshayatan Foundation secretary-general Bratati Bhattacharyya explained that during the pandemic, the organisation hosted multiple webinars. But this (hacking) has never happened before.
“On that day (November 27), hackers took control of the system and changed the setting by making all participants into co-hosts. The technical team in charge of the webinar was having a hard time shutting it down. It had to be wrapped up in the middle, and we’ve informed the authorities.”
According to sources, they gathered the log-in information for the online meeting, which was held on the Zoom platform, and began compiling a list of attendees.
According to the sources, officers are working to verify each and every attendee’s identity.
“Because the links to such webinars are extensively disseminated, they frequently end up in the wrong hands. Mischief-makers find it simple to enter the site using someone else’s identity in order to disrupt online procedures,” the officer explained.

“We’ve given the cops all of the information they requested. We have complete faith in the detectives and are hopeful that they will find the criminals soon,” Bhattacharyya said.
Similar hacking of online classrooms and the publication of indecent photos and discussions have been reported from other parts of the country as well. According to sources, this isn’t the first time a webinar hosted by an educational institution has been hacked, but only a few institutions have stepped out to report the incident to the authorities.
