Cyber Sanjivani: Surat Police Awards Cyber Awareness Certificates To Over 1.50 Lakh People in August

By Shagun Dhanuka in Surat: In one of the biggest cyber awareness initiatives, Surat police along with Cyber Suraksha Setu have reached out to out six lakh citizens and have given cyber awareness quiz certificates to over 1.50 lakh people in August.

The cyber awareness project – Cyber Sanjivani, aims at spreading awareness through the medium of online quizzes and questions. Till now 6 lakh visitors have collected details of cybercrime from www.cybersanjivani.org and over 1.50 lakh have appeared for the online test. The test enables internet users to avoid cybercrime traps.

Due to the boom in the rate of cybercrime, Surat Police in August come up with an initiative that will help people to become aware by themselves in the form of competition.

Decreasing the rate of cybercrime by awareness was the main idea behind the initiative. This competition is helping people in learning new aspects related to cyber security, it is also making people aware of the legal procedures and liabilities in case of Cyber Crimes.

Cyber-crimes can affect a person financially, personally or even mentally. Identity theft, online theft, cyberstalking, hacking of accounts are some of the top cybercrimes which happen daily and is just increasing with every passing day.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, cybercrime has shot up given the fact that a lot of people are at home and access to electronic devices and the internet is easier.

Phishing and ransomware are two crimes that have reached its peak during the lockdown and the main reason for it is unawareness of such crimes. Such cybercrimes can easily be avoided and prevented if people are aware and a bit more cautious while surfing or posting anything online.

This is where Cyber Sanjivani, a joint initiative by Cyber Suraksha Setu in collaboration with the Surat Cyber Crime Police plays an important role.
